YORBA LINDA : City OKs Plans for Housing Expansion

Share

The City Council this week approved plans to expand a housing development on nearly 1,300 acres of land in the far east end of town from 60 homes to 115.

Council members voted 3 to 2 Tuesday to approve preliminary plans for the project, which is located on hillside land just south of Chino Hills State Park and north of Via Lomas de Yorba. Mayor Mark Schwing and Councilman Irwin M. Fried opposed the development.

The AW Associates developers will subdivide the land into 54 lots of at least five acres each and another 46 lots of at least one acre. Even with the increased density, the project will still average less than one home for every four acres.

More than a dozen residents had opposed plans to provide access to the project from Via Lomas de Yorba, fearing increased traffic on the street.
