Scott Ross, former standout linebacker at El Toro High School and USC, was re-signed by the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, the NFL team announced.

The undefeated NFC Western Division leaders were seeking help at linebacker after tests revealed that Vaughn Johnson has a sprained left knee.

Ross was the Saints’ 11th-round choice in April’s draft. He was cut Aug. 26 but was re-signed two days later. He played on special teams in the season opener Sept. 1 but was released Sept. 11.
