HUNTINGTON BEACH : Residents Asked to Help Reduce Deficit

Share

The citizens’ committee charged with proposing ways to bridge the city’s $5-million spending shortfall is seeking suggestions from residents on how to accomplish the task.

The Budget Review Task Force is accepting written comments through Nov. 21 on how the city can cut spending, increase revenue or deal with other budgetary matters.

The City Council last month formed the advisory group as part of a nine-month process to propose a balanced 1992-93 budget. The city dipped into its reserves for more than $2 million to cover the deficit in the current budget.

The task force is scheduled to make its preliminary recommendations to the council in January, with final proposals due in March.

Anyone wishing to submit comments may mail a letter to the Budget Review Task Force at City Hall, Attention Finance Department, 2000 Main St., Huntington Beach, Calif. 92648.
