THOUSAND OAKS : Pizza Outlet Wins OK for Carryout

Share

More than two years after a pizza franchise opened across the street from Thousand Oaks High School, the business has won permission to begin selling pizza for carryout.

The Thousand Oaks Planning Commission this week approved a request by Domino’s Pizza, 2220 N. Moorpark Road, to allow carryout service at the outlet. The business, which opened in early 1989, now only sells through deliveries.

The Planning Commission originally would not allow carryout sales because of concerns that the operation would draw students from the high school campus across the street. Since that time, the employees have established good relations with the high school, and Domino’s pizzas were even available for sale at a recent school event, according to Planning Department documents.

The school and the Conejo Valley Unified School District each wrote letters supporting the request to begin service.

Other restrictions that were originally placed on the business because of its proximity to a school will remain. For instance, to prevent students from ordering pizzas to be brought to their classrooms, school officials still must approve any deliveries to the high school.
