CS Long Beach Plays Host to Utah State

In what might be its final homecoming game, Cal State Long Beach will play host to Utah State in the Big West Conference tonight at 6 at Veterans Stadium.

It is the second of only three home games for the 49ers (1-6, 1-2), who are awaiting a decision in November on a recommendation by a university fact-finding committee that football be dropped or downgraded.

In its four recent road games, Long Beach was outscored, 161-69. The 49ers lost to second-ranked Miami last week, 55-0.

Utah State (1-5, 1-1) lost its first five games but is in third place in the Big West, behind Fresno State (6-0, 2-0) and San Jose State (4-2, 4-0).

Senior quarterback Todd Studer of Long Beach might play for the first time since his jaw was broken Sept. 14 in a 48-14 defeat at Boise State. Utah State wide receiver Rod Moore, who ranks second in the nation in receiving yardage, reinjured a thigh muscle in last week’s 26-3 victory over Cal State Fullerton and is listed as questionable.
