French Seventyfive Wins Oak Tree Turf Feature
French Seventyfive, ridden by Gary Stevens, came from the back of the pack to run down pacesetter Gundaghia in the stretch and win Friday’s $48,000 feature race on the turf at Santa Anita.
French Seventyfive won by three-quarters of a length, and Gundaghia was 2 1/2 lengths ahead of Leger Cat.
Clocked in 1:33 4/5 for the mile on the grass, French Seventyfive paid $7, $3.80 and $2.60. Gundaghia, ridden by Corey Nakatani, paid $6.60 and $3.80. The Argentine-bred Leger Cat, with Kent Desormeaux, up paid $3.80.
Favored River Master bolted and went wide at the head of the stretch, winding up last in the six-horse field.
