Italian Teo Fabi and Australian David Brabham, driving a Jaguar XJR-14, won the pole position for the World Sportscar Championship at Kamitsue, Japan.
Fabi and Brabham were timed at 1 minute 27.188 seconds in their qualifying lap around the 2.898-mile Autopolis circuit, for an average speed of 119.65 m.p.h.
