SDSU played to a double-overtime deadlock for the second consecutive day, tying Stanford, 2-2, at the Aztec Bowl. The Aztecs battled Cal to a 1-1 tie Saturday. SDSU’s Patrick Merrell scored with 30 seconds left in regulation to make it 1-1, then David Quesada scored at 95:20 of the first overtime.
JET SKIING
Chris Fischetti of Escondido claimed his first championship Sunday in the World Jet Ski Finals at Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Fischetti, 23, won the superstock class and was second in the modified and slalom events to edge four-time champion Jeff Jacobs of Escondido. Jacobs won the modified and slalom events but dropped out of the superstock final because of a broken crankshaft.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
SDSU couldn’t hold a 1-0 lead and had to settle for a 1-1 tie with Cal State San Bernardino at the Aztec Bowl. Jaynia Sibold scored midway through the second overtime for the Aztecs. Jackie Powers tied it four minutes and 15 seconds later. SDSU is 9-5-2; CSSB is 9-6-2.
