THOUSAND OAKS : Woman Admits Defrauding Bank
A former officer at First Nationwide Bank in Thousand Oaks pleaded guilty Monday to three counts of defrauding the bank of $99,000, authorities said.
Cynthia Price, 32, of Newbury Park entered the plea in U. S. District Court in Los Angeles after an investigation by the Ventura office of the FBI, a statement by the U. S. attorney’s office said.
Price was charged with three counts of willful misapplication of bank funds after she set up fictitious loan files in account holders’ names, then forged signatures to make it seem that normal loan procedures had been followed, the statement said.
After the funds were placed into the fictitious accounts, Price had sole access to the money, the statement said.
Over 2 1/2 years ending in December, 1989, the statement said, Price took $8,000 from one account, $48,000 from another and $43,000 from another.
Sentencing is scheduled Jan. 13 before U. S. District Judge David V. Kenyon.
Price was unavailable for comment.
