NEWPORT BEACH : 2-Night Parking Ban to Ease Congestion

Balboa Island residents and Fun Zone visitors will no longer be able to park on Bay Avenue on Friday and Saturday nights under a new regulation that has established weekend tow-away zones.

The City Council recently passed a resolution that prohibits parking on the north side of Bay Avenue, between Palm Street and Adams Street, on Friday and Saturday evenings.

City officials hope that eliminating parking will ease congestion by freeing an extra vehicle lane in an area where traffic is often backed up by drivers waiting to turn into parking garages.

The prohibition establishes tow-away zones on Fridays and Saturdays between 6 p.m. and midnight, and will go into effect early next month.
