PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : SCC’s Jacot Scores Six Times on Capistrano Valley Christian

Mike Jacot scored six touchdowns to lead Southern California College to a 58-0 victory over Capistrano Valley Christian in an Arrowhead League game Friday at Saddleback College.

Jacot scored on runs of 70, 30, 20, 15, 10, and 3 yards, and also kicked one extra point to spoil Capistrano Valley Christian’s homecoming.

In 1969, Dave Johnson of Cantwell set the Southern Section record with eight rushing touchdowns in a game. Jacot’s six rushing touchdown performance ranks third in Southern Section history, tying seven other runners.

Dennis Amundson scored on a 75-yard touchdown run and Nathan Lambie scored on a 16-yard run for the Flames’ only other touchdowns.

Southern California Christian improved to 7-1 and 4-0 in league, while Capistrano Valley Christian fell to 4-3 and 3-1 in league.

In another Arrowhead League game:

Calvary Chapel 62, Sherman Indian 0--Matt Kellog ran for three touchdowns and caught two of Jason Sharkey’s four touchdown passes as the visiting Eagles improved to 7-1, 4-0.

Sharkey completed 11 of 18 passes for 216 yards, ran for a touchdown and kicked four extra points. Sherman Indian fell to 1-6, 1-4.

In an Olympic League game:

Cerritos Valley Christian 42, Orange Lutheran 6--Valley Christian quarterback Vern Carlson completed only three passes, but all for touchdowns, and tailback Corey Peters rushed for 215 yards to lead the Crusaders to victory over Orange Lutheran at Crusader Field. The Crusaders improved to 3-0 in league play and remain tied for first place with Brethren Christian.

Carlson hit Cory O’Malley with a 63-yard pass for a touchdown on the first play of the game. The Lancers scored on their first possession when Lenny Gavin scored from three yards out to cap an 80-yard drive. Peters put the Crusaders ahead for good when he scored from 60 yards out. Mike Plante and Rick Jones also rushed for touchdowns. Mike Kroeze made scoring catches from 17 and 71 yards.
