2 Cities Share Billing as Hottest Spots in U.S.
Glendale and San Gabriel shared the billing as the hottest spots in the nation Monday when temperatures in both cities hit 92 degrees, the National Weather Service reported.
A high-pressure system over the West Coast stymied cooling ocean winds over the region, forcing higher-than-normal temperatures in Southern California, weather service officials said. Monday’s high in downtown Los Angeles was 90, 6 degrees below the record high for the date set in 1976. The weather service predicted that the hot weather will continue into next week.
