A Simi Valley man turned himself in to police Thursday, saying he became remorseful after kidnaping a woman and child and raping the woman, police reported.

Miguel A. Arroyo, 26, was arrested on suspicion of rape, suspicion of kidnaping and suspicion of forcible oral copulation, a Simi Valley Police Department spokesman said. He was being held Thursday night in Ventura County Jail on $20,000 bail.

Arroyo admitted taking the 22-year-old acquaintance and her 4-year-old child from a Simi Valley residence at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, police said. He told police that he threatened to stab her with a screwdriver if she did not have sex with him, police said.

When the woman became upset, Arroyo hit her in the left eye, causing severe swelling, police said. He took her to another location where he forced her to have sexual intercourse with him, police said.

Arroyo told officers that he and the woman fell asleep, and shortly after waking, Arroyo felt remorseful and called police to confess, police said.
