A 17-year-old Oxnard girl led police on a high-speed chase through Oxnard and Ventura early Saturday before crashing into another car, authorities said.

At 1:30 a.m., a 1989 Nissan Sentra was seen erratically passing a car on the right at 45 m.p.h. on Hobson Way in Oxnard, Oxnard Police Officer Martin Polo said in a prepared release.

Polo said he turned on his overhead lights to pull over the Nissan, but it ran a stop light. Polo then chased the Nissan north onto Ventura Road, where it nearly collided with an unmarked police car.

“Throughout the pursuit . . . in excess of 75 to 85 m.p.h., the Nissan was forcing vehicles off the roadway. At several points in the pursuit, the Nissan attempted to go head-on with opposing traffic,” the report said.

Police chased the Nissan onto the Ventura Freeway, where it was reportedly traveling at 95 to 100 m.p.h. The car exited at Seaward Avenue and continued north after hitting the center divider. The driver was speeding at 75 to 85 m.p.h. and traveling on the wrong side of the road, Polo reported. The chase, which included three police officers from Oxnard and two from Ventura, ended at Foothill Road and Court Avenue when the Nissan collided head-on with a car driven by Mark Perry, 23, of Ventura.

The girl, whose name was not released because of her age, suffered moderate injuries to her left arm and ankle and was extricated from her car. She was arrested on suspicion of evading arrest, drunken driving and assault with a deadly weapon--her car. She was treated at Ventura County Medical Center, then cited and released to her parents.

Perry was not hurt, but police arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving.
