THOUSAND OAKS : City May Lower Bus Fares for Holidays
- Share via
Bus passengers in Thousand Oaks will be able to ride a city bus for only 25 cents under a proposal to ease traffic congestion at the malls during the Christmas holidays.
If approved by the City Council tonight, the plan would reduce Thousand Oaks Transit fares from 75 cents to 25 cents from Dec. 14 until Dec. 31.
The proposal also calls for bus service and a subsidized taxi service for senior citizens and the disabled to be offered on the weekends of Dec. 14-15 and Dec. 21-22 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Regular bus service runs from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. No buses will run on Christmas or New Year’s Day. Under the proposal, daily bus service would be extended 1 1/2 hours, until 8 p.m. However, on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, service would end at 6:30 p.m.
Officials say they hope to ease parking problems at The Oaks and Janss malls.
