Newspaper Co-Owner Arrested on Warrant
The co-owner of the Antelope Valley Press newspaper was arrested at his Palmdale home Thursday two days after failing to appear for a court hearing on assault, cocaine possession and other charges.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said they arrested William W. Odett, 45, based on a bench warrant issued Tuesday, the day Odett was supposed to appear for the possible start of his trial on two felony and two misdemeanor charges.
Odett was arrested May 16 after allegedly forcing a telephone book delivery woman to leave his property at gunpoint. Deputies also said he was in possession of 1.67 grams of cocaine. Odett, who has missed two hearings and was late for two others, was being held Thursday in lieu of $500,000 bail.
