Bondholders Want New Valley in Bankruptcy: A group of bondholders of New Valley Corp.--formerly known as Western Union--asked that the company be forced into bankruptcy. The group holds a fraction of $171 million in bonds that are due Dec. 15. Those bonds have been in default since June 15 when the company failed to make payments of $16.5 million.
