Longshot Bossanova Wins Turf Feature by a Neck

Longshot Bossanova shrugged off being headed in the stretch and came on again to win the $33,000 allowance turf feature for 2-year olds by a neck Friday at Hollywood Park.
Apprentice Hector Torres took the gelded, California-bred son of Romeo to the front at the start of the mile and recorded fractions of :47 for a half mile and 1:11 for six furlongs.
Midway through the stretch, Thinkernot, with Chris McCarron, and Al Sabin, ridden by Gary Stevens, went ahead of Bossanova. But Torres regained the lead near the wire, running the mile in 1:36.
Al Sabin finished second by a half-length over Thinkernot in the field of nine. The winner paid $57.60, $21.20 and $7.
