SAVING THE SHELTER: An all-day “Hair-A-Thon” will be held today to raise funds for the financially troubled YWCA WomenShelter of Long Beach, the only battered women’s shelter in the Long Beach area, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stephen’s Salon, One World Trade Center, Suite 210, Long Beach.

NEW SCHOOL BOSS: Parents in the Paramount Unified School District will have a chance to tell district officials what they want in a new superintendent, scheduled to take office next July. The meeting is scheduled for Monday at 6:30 p.m., at district offices, 15110 California Ave.
