Man Killed While Crossing Street
A man attempting to run across Lake Forest Drive was killed Saturday when he was struck by a car, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The victim was identified only as a 27-year-old El Toro resident. His name was being withheld until authorities can locate his next of kin, an Orange County coroner’s spokesman said.
The driver of the car, Raul Ramos, 31, also of El Toro, was not injured, CHP Sgt. Diane Hartz said. The pedestrian was at fault and the driver was not cited, Hartz said.
The accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. as Ramos was driving west on Lake Forest Drive near Lambert Street at about 45 m.p.h. The pedestrian was attempting to run north across the street when he was struck, Hartz said.
