A brush fire scorched 10 acres in Saugus early Monday morning and an unrelated fire burned a patch of grass in Woodland Hills, fire officials said.

The Saugus fire started in the 28000 block of Shadow Valley Lane in Bouquet Canyon, said Tammie Graciano, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. About 40 firefighters battled the blaze while winds up to 10 m.p.h. blew through the canyon. The fire was extinguished shortly after 4 a.m., Graciano said.

No structures were damaged and there were no injuries, Graciano said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

About 11 a.m. a brush fire burned a 50-by-100-foot patch of grass in Woodland Hills near Mulholland and Margarita drives, said Jim Wells, spokesman for the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

About 30 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was extinguished in about five minutes, Wells said.

“The helicopter did a water drop and extinguished it,” Wells said.
