NHL ROUNDUP : Detroit Extends Streak to 10

Paul Ysebaert scored two goals and added an assist as the Detroit Red Wings extended their longest unbeaten streak in 21 years to 10 games with a 5-4 victory over the Washington Capitals at Detroit Monday night.

The streak, which includes eight victories and two ties, is Detroit’s longest since March of 1970.

Montreal 4, Boston 3--Petr Svoboda scored with 5:11 remaining in the third period as the Canadiens rallied from a two-goal deficit at Montreal.

Rookie Paul DiPietro won a faceoff back to Svoboda, who moved in and drilled a shot for the game-winner.

Quebec 5, Hartford 2--Owen Nolan took over the league’s goal-scoring lead at Quebec with his 18th and 19th of the season as the Nordiques continued their mastery of the Whalers.

The Nordiques are 5-2-4 against the Whalers since the start of the 1990-91 season and 16-64-1 against the rest of the NHL.

Winnipeg 3, Calgary 3--Troy Murray scored the Jets’ first shorthanded goal of the season with 5:07 remaining in regulation time to gain a tie at Calgary.
