SOMIS : Motorcyclist Killed in Car Collision
A 21-year-old enlisted man stationed at Point Mugu Naval Air Station was killed on California 34 after being thrown from his motorcycle and run over by the car that had collided with him, authorities said Sunday.
The motorcyclist, who was identified by a coroner’s spokesman as Petty Officer 3rd Class Mark Molina, was heading easterly on Somis Road near West Street in the Somis area when a car driven by Diane M. Druebert, 31, of Agoura Hills hit him at 11:25 p.m. Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
He died of traumatic head injuries, a deputy coroner said.
Druebert, who was not injured, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter, a CHP spokesman said.
She was released on her own recognizance Sunday after being held overnight at the Ventura County Jail, a jail official said.
