RINGING TRUE: While retailers are braced for one of the worst Christmas seasons on record, the Salvation Army is looking forward to what it hopes will be its best. To mark the 100th year of the Yule bell-ringers, the charity is hoping to double the number of kettles in Orange County to 100. . . . It will be stationing workers outside supermarkets and discount stores, as well as malls. The goal: $150,000. The top location: South Coast Plaza, with 13 kettles.
