PORT HUENEME : Chase Ends With Rooftop Arrest
A Port Hueneme man, who briefly eluded police during a foot chase Tuesday afternoon, was arrested on the roof of a downtown cafe after he refused to come down, police said.
Dennis Babula, 41, was wanted for questioning for a possible parole violation when he was spotted in the 200 block of East B Street, police said. Babula fled, escaping through the back yards of several residences, they said.
A short while later, police found him on the roof of a sandwich shop at Pleasant Valley and Ventura roads. He refused to leave, police said, so a ladder truck from the Ventura County Fire Department was summoned and police went up on the roof to arrest him.
Babula was being held in Ventura County Jail on $5,000 bail on suspicion of possessing an illegal knife and narcotics paraphernalia, suspicion of resisting arrest and suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
