No effort meant no start for Indiana’s Calbert Cheaney, Eric Anderson and Damon Bailey.

Instead, the three acted as bench-bound cheerleaders while teammates Greg Graham and Matt Nover each scored 14 points in the 13th-ranked Hoosiers’ 88-51 victory over Vanderbilt at Bloomington, Ind., Tuesday night.

Cheaney, the team’s leading scorer at 15.5 points, Anderson and Bailey were benched by coach Bobby Knight, who has been unhappy with his team’s offensive production in a 3-2 start.

The three started the second half and made their presence known immediately by scoring Indiana’s first nine points. Cheaney had five points in the 9-6 run, which increased the Hoosiers’ lead to 45-34 with 16:51 remaining.
