Hotel Price War: The holidays are usually considered peak season in the hotel business, but the lingering recession has not quelled the price war among hotels.
The discounting is being led locally by Marriott, which is offering discounts of up to 60% for guests who book at least 14 days before their visit. With the discount, room rates will range from $49 to $69 a night, depending on location; some dates are unavailable, such as New Year’s Eve.
The plan is available through Jan. 12 at five Marriott properties in Orange County--Anaheim Marriott, Marriott Suites Costa Mesa, Fullerton Marriott, Irvine Marriott and Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club--and six other Marriott hotels in Southern California.
