A North Hollywood man died and his girlfriend was critically wounded Friday when both were stabbed, apparently in a domestic dispute, police said.

Frank Cho, 33, was pronounced dead at about 12:30 a.m. after authorities found him in the hallway outside his girlfriend’s apartment in the 11600 block of Oxnard Street near Lankershim Boulevard, said Los Angeles Police Detective Mike Coffey. Cho lived a few blocks away.

His girlfriend, Jin Choi, 28, was treated at Holy Cross Medical Center, Coffey said. She was in stable condition Friday after surgery, he said.

Both suffered multiple stab wounds, Coffey said, but it did not appear that an outside party was involved in the incident.

“We’re trying to figure out what happened and who stabbed who,” he said. “It appears they were stabbed with the same weapon.”

Just after midnight, a security guard and another tenant heard someone screaming for help in the hallway, and they then found Cho bleeding near the entrance to Choi’s apartment. The woman was found nearby minutes later.
