The trial of former San Diego Police Officer Henry Hubbard Jr. was delayed by a judge until April 6.

Hubbard, accused of attacking seven couples in separate incidents on area beaches last summer, is charged with 35 felony counts, including attempted murder, rape and robbery.

His trial was scheduled to begin in February, but Hubbard’s attorney, Kerry Steigerwalt, said Wednesday that the postponement was needed because of delays in DNA testing, which he said is “absolutely” necessary to Hubbard’s defense.

Hubbard, who appeared in San Diego Superior Court, is being held in County Jail in lieu of $2 million bail.
