PIERCE COLLEGE : Renolds to Head Campus Police

Ken Renolds, who has been named captain of police and safety services at Pierce College, says his goal is to maintain a safe and pleasant environment in which to learn.

“My main concerns are safeguarding students, faculty and staff and enforcing traffic regulations,” said Renolds, 43, a police officer at Pierce College since 1977.

As head of the Pierce College police unit, Renolds also coordinates the college’s disaster preparedness plan and campus first aid unit.

He said he also wants to expand the police and safety office, allowing more space for critical functions such as first aid.

Renolds of Thousand Oaks succeeds James Griffin, who transferred to West Los Angeles College in June.

A graduate of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Academy, Renolds has been associated with the college since 1973 when he was hired as a provisional police aid. He also has served as sergeant, lieutenant, night supervisor and as acting police captain.
