Special ‘Mayan Fare’ for Central America
Travelers heading to Central America should consider a new “Mayan World Fare” offered by Sahsa, the Honduran airline.
The fare, priced at $399, covers round-trip flights in economy class from one of three U.S. gateways--Miami, New Orleans or Houston--to four Central American cities: Belize City, capital of Belize, where travelers can see the ruins of Zunantunich, Altun Ha and Lamani; San Pedro Sula in Honduras, to see the Mayan city of Copan; Tegucigalpa, capital of Honduras and gateway to other jungle excursions in the country, and Guatemala City, gateway to the Mayan sites of Tikal and Quirigua.
Travelers can visit the four cities in any order, and at least two stopovers are required. The fare is valid for 21 days.
To underscore the savings provided by this program, the round-trip economy fare between Belize City and Tegucigalpa is $200; between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, $90, and between Tegucigalpa and Guatemala City, $144. These flights alone total $434. The lowest round-trip economy fare from Miami to Tegucigalpa, which excludes stopovers, is $358.
Children ages 2 through 11 pay $199.50. The fares are valid throughout 1992, except for a blackout period from now through Jan. 15.
