Anderson’s Transit Help

Share

On behalf of the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission and the people of Los Angeles County, we want to thank Rep. Glenn Anderson (D-San Pedro) for 50 years of outstanding public service to our community and this nation. As we learned of Anderson’s decision not to seek reelection (Dec. 9), we wanted to take this opportunity to again acknowledge his outstanding legislative leadership on behalf of the Los Angeles Metro system.

Our appreciation of Congressman Anderson’s years of leadership is evidenced by the plaque recognizing his work on behalf of federal funding for Metro Rail in our Metro Center station. It is the first and only plaque recognizing legislative contributions toward building our rail network. It is also richly deserved, since this system could not have been built without his involvement and support in Congress.

Anderson, in his capacity as a senior member and chairman of the House Public Works and Transportation Committee, has a legacy of achievement on behalf of Metro Rail, our airports, the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, and certainly the I-105 Freeway, named in his honor, which will open in 1994.
