SIMI VALLEY : Diane Collins to Lead School Board
Diane Collins, a program administrator for the Southern California Assn. of Governments, was elected president of the Simi Valley school board by her colleagues Tuesday.
Collins, 46, was elected to the school board in 1988 and has served as its clerk twice. She replaces Judy Barry as president.
Collins said her biggest concern is the unified school district’s finances.
“We’re heading into some uncertain times. Finances will have to be everyone’s major concern,” she said. “I support lobbying at the state level, but I recognize that education didn’t do as badly as other parts of budget and it may be our chance to take a hit this year.”
Ken Ashton was chosen clerk of the board.
