UC San Diego couldn’t turn a 23-point, 10-rebound effort by Rick Batt into a victory against Division II Cal State San Bernardino (4-4), which converted a one-point halftime lead into a 91-84 victory. The Tritons, who got 18 points from Andy Swindall, fell to 3-2.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

San Diego State, led by Kieishsha Garnes’ 30 points and 12 rebounds, routed UC Irvine, 70-49, at Peterson Gym. The Aztecs outscored the Anteaters, 41-24, in the second half. The only other SDSU player in double figures was Lakeysha Wright, with 11 points. Michelle Miles had 12 assists.

Camille Armijo’s 25-foot three-point shot at the buzzer gave Point Loma Nazarene a stirring 51-50 victory at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Armijo, a high-scoring guard, was held to 10 points while teammate Rochelle Lightner (24 points) carried the scoring load. The Crusaders improved to 7-4; the Toros are 3-5.

UCSD couldn’t stop Demetra Dixon and host Cal Baptist, which improved to 7-3 with an 87-69 victory over the Tritons. Dixon finished with 28 points. Lisa Beaver had 21 points and 14 rebounds, and Eric Scholl 15 points for UCSD, which fell to 4-2.
