Azusa : Day Laborer Site Studied

A job center for day laborers may open in the city by early 1992.
The City Council directed the city staff Monday to look for an industrial site where a trailer can be set up to serve as a meeting place for day laborers.
Currently, 50 to 100 workers gather daily at the Edgewood Shopping Center at Gladstone and Azusa avenues, prompting residents’ complaints about trash and noise.
A citizens’ committee that was formed several months ago has been gathering information on existing day labor sites in cities such as Brea and Costa Mesa.
