The Grammy-winning Roger Wagner Chorale will sing holiday carols Saturday night at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Glendale.

Roger Wagner started the choir in 1945. He won a Grammy in 1958 for the album “Virtuoso,” and has been nominated 11 times since then. The group has toured extensively. “I played every state in the Union, some several times,” Wagner says.

These days, the Roger Wagner Chorale functions ad hoc, coming together for specific concert dates, as opposed to performing regularly, says Jeannine Wagner, Roger’s daughter and associate director of the chorale. There are 32 core members, with additional people joining on an informal basis; 40 people will sing with the chorale Saturday.

The program includes a 16th-Century “Salve Regina” by Mexican composer Juan De Lineas. The chorale will perform with the 40-member Baptist Voice Children’s Choir of Mandarin Baptist Church of Los Angeles at 7:30 p.m.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is at 300 Vallejo Drive, Glendale. Suggested donation is $12, $10 for students and seniors.
