Michael Chang, weakened by jet lag and a groin injury, lost to French Open champion Jim Courier, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, in an exhibition match before 6,752 at the Forum Wednesday.

Chang had defeated Courier, 6-4, 6-2, in a first-round match of the $6-million Grand Slam Cup last Wednesday in Munich, and advanced to the final of the sport’s richest tournament before losing to David Wheaton, 7-5, 6-4, 6-2, Sunday.

In the third set, both players remained on serve until the eighth game, when Courier scored a break in a game that went to deuce four times.

Courier held serve in the ninth game, closing out the match. Chang hit a backhand ruled wide on match point.

Organizers announced that Bjorn Borg will face John Lloyd in an exhibition match at the Forum Feb. 25, billed as Borg’s first match in the United States since 1984. Wimbledon champion Michael Stitch will meet Wheaton in the main match that night.
