Opposition to SEC Brokerage Plan: Foreign regulators are grumbling over a Securities and Exchange Commission plan that would require brokerages to supply a mountain of paperwork about the dealings of their parent firms. The unhappiness over the proposal, which was unveiled in August for public comment, puts the SEC in the delicate spot of formulating its final plan in a way that will not trigger retaliation by foreign regulators against U.S. houses abroad. The plan is intended to allow the SEC to see when a brokerage may fall prey to troubles at a parent company, including those based overseas.
