Miller’s Time : The Producers
I had a great chuckle while reading your article. I’ve worked in the television business for more than 15 years and can’t begin to tell you how many people, when asked what they do, will say, “I’m a producer.” (Second only to “I’m an actor.”)
I once worked on a half-hour sitcom that had four executive producers, one co-executive producer, two supervising producers, one producer, two co-producers and one associate producer. For all those 11 producers, the show didn’t even last a full season.
Then Rumor Control had it that the office manager was insisting on a producer credit too, until a real producer threatened to leave if she got it. She didn’t. Anyway, such is life in the biz.
