McDonald, an all-pro the past two seasons, suffered a broken ankle Nov. 29 during a practice and was sidelined for the rest of the season. He had 96 tackles and five interceptions.
Seattle Seahawk general manager Tom Flores said no decision has been made on the future of Coach Chuck Knox, despite increasing speculation that Knox is all but fired. Flores said he expects an announcement about Knox early next month.
Flores said he would meet with owner Ken Behring within a week to talk about Knox's status.
Knox met with Flores Monday, but neither would say what was discussed.
A buyout provision would require Behring to give Knox between $200,000 and $400,000 if he fires him. Knox would not get the money if he resigns. They could negotiate a settlement.
Knox, who will turn 60 on April 27, was emphatic that he doesn't want to retire.
The Seahawks finished with a 7-9 record this season.
