2 Shooting Deaths Are Examined for Possible Links
Sheriff’s Department detectives are examining a possible link between the shooting death of an unidentified Latino man found Sunday night on a Vista street and a similar slaying earlier this month.
Sheriff’s officials said it appeared that the man, whose body was spotted by a passing motorist in the 2000 block of Vista Grande Drive, had been shot at another location.
The victim was described as 25 to 35 years old. A derringer pistol was found among his possessions.
Detectives think the killing may be related to the shooting death of Peter Cortez, whose body was found Dec. 4 in the 2100 block of Vista Grande Drive. Officials said the slaying appeared to be drug-related.
