LAGUNA HILLS : Woman, 78, Dies as Her Car Strikes Tree
A 78-year-old woman died Monday morning when the car she was driving slammed into a tree.
California Highway Patrol investigators said Dorothee Willard Lowe of Laguna Hills may have suffered a seizure that caused her to lose control of her 1977 Honda Accord while turning into the Moulton Plaza shopping center off Santa Maria Avenue.
CHP spokesman Ken Daily said Lowe was driving east on Santa Maria Avenue and had made a left turn into the plaza when she drove over a shrub-covered divider and hit the tree.
Daily said Lowe suffered face and head injuries in the crash. She was pronounced dead at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center.
