Free-agent catcher Mike LaValliere has agreed to a $6.3-million, three-year contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates. LaValliere, who made $1,035,000 last season, gets a $600,000 signing bonus, $1.65 million in 1992, $2.15 million in 1993 and $1.9 million in 1994. He can make an additional $120,000 a year in performance bonuses.
LaValliere batted .298 with three home runs and 41 RBIs in 108 games for the Pirates in 1991.
