A 24-year-old Canoga Park woman was killed and her passenger seriously injured in a two-car collision at a Northridge intersection, police said.

Maryann Madelon was pronounced dead at 9 p.m. Saturday at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Madelon was driving north on Corbin Avenue about 8:20 p.m. when her car was broadsided by a car traveling east on Roscoe Boulevard, Los Angeles Police Sgt. John Gambill said.

Gambill said witnesses told police that the accident occurred after the second car, driven by a 38-year-old Granada Hills man, ran a red light.

Yolanda Madelon, 25, of Simi Valley, a passenger in Maryann Madelon’s car, suffered a fractured wrist and was reported in fair condition Sunday at Humana Hospital-West Hills.

A second passenger in Madelon’s car, along with the driver and a passenger in the second vehicle, suffered minor injuries, police said.

No charges have been filed pending a police investigation of the accident, Gambill said.
