The March of Time: Prime time is about to get earlier in San Francisco. On Feb. 8, KRON-TV will advance its prime-time schedule one hour for a 16-month test. The station becomes the second West Coast NBC affiliate to shift prime time from the traditional 8-11 p.m. to a 7-10 p.m. tryout. KCRA-TV in Sacramento conducted a similar test last fall. CBS affiliate KPIX-TV in San Francisco also has announced plans to roll prime time ahead one hour. West Coast broadcasters say they are making the moves because of “changing lifestyles” that have people going to bed and rising earlier.
