Benzinger, Candelaria, Harris Agree to Terms With Dodgers
The Dodgers have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with first baseman Todd Benzinger, pitcher John Candelaria and infielder Lenny Harris, Executive Vice President Fred Claire announced Thursday. Terms were not announced.
Benzinger, 29, started last season with the Cincinnati Reds and batted .187 in 51 games, with one home run and 11 runs batted in. He was traded in July to Kansas City, where he hit .294 in 78 games, with two homers and 40 RBIs, then was dealt to the Dodgers in the off-season.
Candelaria, 38, appeared in a career-high 59 games in 1991 and was 1-1 with two saves. His earned-run average was 3.74.
Harris, 27, played in 145 games last season, his third with the Dodgers, and batted .287 with three homers and 38 RBIs.
Eight Dodgers remain eligible for arbitration.
