WEEKEND TV : Debates, Awards Bring Out the Stars

It’s a weekend of big stars.

First, Jacqueline Bisset and Pierce Brosnan host “The 49th annual Golden Globe Awards,” tonight at 7 p.m. on TBS. Among those nominated for awards are: Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Anthony Hopkins, Oliver Stone, Barbra Streisand, Sidney Poitier, Nick Nolte, Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner and Jessica Tandy.

Then, Walter Matthau returns Sunday at 9 p.m. (2)(8) as a small-town lawyer in “Against Her Will: An Incident in Baltimore.” In this new TV movie, the rumpled movie star fights for the release of a woman wrongly imprisoned in a mental institution.

The Ford Motor Co.’s biggest star, Lindsay Wagner, also turns up Sunday night at 9 (7)(3)(10)(42) in “She Woke Up.” This time out, the “Bionic Woman” plays a society woman who wakes from a coma believing that someone is out to kill her.

And, the five Democrats vying to become perhaps the biggest star of all square off in their second presidential debate Sunday at 4 p.m. with a repeat at 8 on C-SPAN. Former California Gov. Jerry Brown, Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton, Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa, Sen. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska and former Sen. Paul Tsongas of Massachusetts face off on such domestic issues as the economy, education and crime from Manchester, N.H..
