THOUSAND OAKS : Man, 35, Dies After Being Hit by Car
A 35-year-old Thousand Oaks man died at Los Robles Regional Medical Center after he was hit by a car while crossing a street, authorities said.
Jesus Mercado died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday of massive head injuries, said Ventura County Deputy Coroner Zelmira Isaac.
Mercado was crossing Campus Drive at Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a car driven by Susan Johnson, 41, of Saugus, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Senior Deputy Mike Christensen.
The speed limit in that area is 45 m.p.h., and “there’s no indication that there was speeding,” Christensen said.
“It’s still under investigation. We’re still trying to figure out if Mercado was in a crosswalk or anything,” Christensen said. No one has been cited.
