Monterey Park : Vote Set on Height Limits
Voters will decide April 14 whether to raise height limits and lift other building restrictions along North Atlantic Boulevard.
The changes were proposed because current laws are hindering a developer who wants to build a 400,000-square-foot enclosed shopping mall near the San Bernardino Freeway, supporters of the measure say.
If approved by a majority vote, buildings on a certain portion of North Atlantic could reach a maximum of 56 feet, six feet higher than currently allowed.
Developers also would be exempt from a requirement that they “terrace” buildings adjacent to some residential neighborhoods.
