SEAL BEACH : City Ups the Price of Owning a Pet

Share

The price of owning a pet in Seal Beach has gone up, but it will still generally be more costly to own a canine than a feline.

Council members last week increased the license fees as follows: For unaltered dogs, the fee went from $15 to $20; for altered dogs, from $7.50 to $10; for unaltered cats, from $7.50 to $10, and for altered cats, from $6.25 to $7.50.

The council also increased the fee for delivery of an animal trap from $5 to $10 and for relinquishment of a pet by its owner from $15 to $17.50.

City Manager Jerry L. Bankston said the increase in animal fees will reduce the amount of general fund money that is used for services. Other fees will also be examined in coming months, he said.
